On the evening before the final day of term, the Music School presented the Winter Concert. It showcased the hard work and commitment the pupils put in their music lessons and rehearsals. The different music ensembles were joined by the London Mozart Players Quartet in performing String Quartet No.3 by Chevalier de Saint Georges, Divertimento by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Spartacus by Brian Balmages, and Oath of Honour by Larry Clark.
Alongside performances from the drum group and Year 7, 8 & 9 guitar group, the Jazz Band performed N.T. by Kool and the Gang, while The Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie and Gimme Some Lovin’ by Spencer Davis Group were covered by the School’s Year 11 and Year 10 bands respectively.
To conclude the evening which showcased incredibly varied and high-quality music, the choir closed the concert by singing I Found by Amber Run and Beggin’ by Madcon.

Thank you for reserving your tickets for the Winter Concert through our online Booking system. We appreciate that you may have booked two tickets for the night, but in light of recent Government guidelines, we would request that only one person attends the concert to reduce our numbers.
The performances will be recorded and posted on the School website.
You are welcome to cancel your online booking and to a partial/full refund if you have already paid for and picked up your tickets at the Reception. You can let us know by emailing marketing@cfbs.islington.sch.uk or informing our Reception team.
If you are attending the Winter Concert on Thursday 16th December at 6pm, we request that you:
- Take a free Lateral Flow test on the morning of the Concert.
- Wear a face covering and follow the guidelines throughout the Concert.
We appreciate your understanding and wish you a restful and peaceful Christmas break.

The University of East London will be running a webinar that would be helpful for all of our Year 10 and 11 parents/carers and students who are considering their next steps after GCSEs. The session will look at the main qualifications and differences in these qualifications that one can move on to after GCESs. The event will also look at post-18 qualifications and how pre-18 choices can affect post-18 choices. We would encourage all of our parent/carers to join this webinar, with their student present.
Register for the event using this link, and a joining link will be sent to you via email: Register here

On Wednesday 1st December, volunteers from Exigere joined us after school to provide 1-to-1 support for our Year 12 and 13 students on their CVs. This was a great opportunity for our young people to gain constructive and positive insight on what makes a strong CV, and the future experiences they can pursue that will help them develop it further!

Our Safer Schools Police Officer, PC Hughes, gave a powerful talk to our KS5 students this week on abuse and violence against women. This talk is part of our whole school approach to ensure our students are equipped with the knowledge to identify and report harassment, abuse or violence. PC Hughes discussed the pertinence of this topic and gave a detailed and evidence-informed presentation on the definitions and types of abuse against women.
